We never want our children to hurt, but pain in this life is inevitable.
When my 6-year-old son was hit by a car last year I prayed more than ever.
As he laid in the ER with a severely broken femur, a fractured pelvis, and a broken rib I thanked God his injuries were not worse. I also cried out because I could not understand why this tragedy happened.
It would have been easy for me to be angry at the driver, angry at myself, and angry at God. The reasons things happen like this are never fully explained. But I do know what a testimony our family has because of the accident.
My son can share how he knows Jesus was holding his hand when that car crippled his body.
I know for certain the Holy Spirit prompted me to watch my son out the window (even though I had nightmares of Jonah getting hit for weeks afterwards).
I trust God’s plan.
Whether you have witnessed an injury to your child or are in the middle of the aftermath God is always with you. He knows your worries, your fears, and the nightmares that keep you up at night.
He will never forsake you.
A Prayer For When Your Child is Physically Injured
I don’t know what to do for my child.
My heart is heavy, and I wish I could take the pain away.
Why did this have to happen?
Please, Lord, help me be strong for my child, for my family.
I want to serve them the best way I can.
When my faith is shaken please remind me you are in control.
Heal my child, Father, let the pain disappear.
I do not pretend to know your plan, but I believe you
have the best intentions for my child’s life.
Thank you for loving my baby more than I do.
In Jesus’ Name,
Thought to Consider: Has God answered a prayer for healing in your child’s life?
